Computer Networking and Cybersecurity
Bachelor of Science (BS)
Champlain College in Burlington, VT
Designing, building and securing network infrastructure are the types of technical quests that stir the passion of students in the Computer Networking & Cybersecurity major. In today's interconnected world, the implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure and protection of digital information are becoming a priority for organizations. The fields of networking, systems administration and security are also becoming more complex as societies, industries and government agencies come to rely on digital networks, systems and technology in everyday operations. Champlain's Computer Networking & Cybersecurity Bachelor of Science program has been designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance by the National Security Agency, and this program will give you an extensive grounding in traditional network and security protocols, and prepare you for successful encounters with wireless networking, VoIP, virtualization and cybersecurity at all levels. Hands-On Education in Small Class Sizes With networking and security becoming an increasingly complex field, successful students need to develop a strong skill set and knowledge with systems early on in their college careers. Thanks to our Upside-Down Curriculum, you'll start taking networking and cybersecurity courses beginning in your first semester. Gain proficiency in server software installation, systems administration functions, networks and network services configurations, and LAN and WAN technology and protocols. Our fully virtualized lab provides the capability to create a variety of networking and security configurations and environments. You'll scan networks for vulnerabilities, secure the systems and learn how networks, Web servers and databases are integrated to deliver information and how to design those systems to be secure. As you come to understand how attacks are staged against network infrastructure and how to mitigate those attacks, you'll learn to develop security policies and integrate security into systems administration and network design. Learn more about our current course offerings. Faculty Learn from instructors who are industry experts in networking and information assurance. They'll give you the hands-on technical skills you need to stand out in the field. Meet our faculty. Specializations & Minors All students in the Computer Networking & Cybersecurity program must select a focus area of study to complete their degree. In addition to a specialization, you have the option to complete a minor in subjects like Managing Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Science or Computer & Digital Forensics. Internships Our students are highly sought after for paid internships and positions after only their second year of study and have a variety of career options with technology companies, both regionally and nationally during the summer and after they graduate. In addition to external internships, you can get hands-on experience in paid positions in Champlain's Senator Patrick Leahy Center for Digital Investigation (LCDI), a fully equipped, state-of-the-art digital forensics investigation lab, where you'll work with professional digital forensics investigators and law enforcement officials on actual investigations. English with Secondary School Teacher Certification
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT
This degree prepares students to be licensed to teach English in grades 7-12. In addition to completing the B.A. in English, students must complete a sequence of study and field experiences in Education. During senior year students complete fifteen weeks of full-time student teaching at the 7-12 level. All student teaching must be done in the immediate area of the College. The practice and study of literature challenges students to try on experiences beyond their own lives, building emotional intelligence and encouraging creative visualization. The English and Writing degrees at Green Mountain College provide students with the skills necessary to critically analyze a variety of texts, and to create and revise original content. Both sets of skills are highly prized in a society increasingly defined by digital communications. While most students major in the subject because of their fondness for a good story and their love of language, the study of literature also provides dramatic lessons in history, philosophy, psychology, and cultural studies. GMC’s English Program focuses on the study of literature, while students in the writing program concentrate on their own work. Writing workshops allow students to hone their craft and develop a professional portfolio.

History with Secondary School Teacher Certification in Social Studies
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT
This degree prepares students to be licensed to teach Social Studies in grades 7-12. In addition to completing the B.A. in History, students must complete a sequence of study and field experiences in Education. During senior year students complete fifteen weeks of full-time student teaching at the 7-12 level. All student teaching must be done in the immediate area of the College. History at Green Mountain is designed to nurture and produce professional skills while studying the infinitely varied and exciting world of the human past. The history program at Green Mountain College combines uncommon academic rigor with real world experience. A few examples: Jake Musial ’11 interned as a lab technician in the North American Archaeology Lab of The Museum of Natural History. Clara Walsh ’13 made a presentation on art and architectural traditions in the Islamic world at the Seventh Northwest World History Association Conference. It’s rare for an undergraduate student to present shoulder-to-shoulder with professional academics, but it happens often here at GMC. Individualized attention, facilitated through small classes and our advising program, helps students move on to top graduate schools or into jobs in their field of study. The curriculum stresses developing and sharpening student skills which have broad applications to such careers as law school, museum studies, archival positions as well as many other graduate and professional programs. The program offers a wide range of courses in American, Asian, European, and world history. Many of those courses have an environmental theme in keeping with the overall mission of the College. The senior seminar provides students with the opportunity to conduct original research involving primary sources on a topic of their choosing to demonstrate the abilities and approaches they have developed in the program.

Art with K12 Certificate in Education
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT
This degree allows students to become licensed to teach Art in grades preK-6, 7-12, or preK-12. Students complete a modified B.A. in Art, and a sequence of study and field experiences in Education. During senior year students complete fifteen weeks of full-time student teaching split into two 7-8 week experiences, one in an elementary classroom and one in a secondary classroom. All student teaching must be done in the immediate area of the College. Natural surroundings at Green Mountain College provide an inspiring backdrop for creating art that makes connections between human and natural environments and encourages meaningful social change. The creative arts respond to the ever-changing conditions of our environment. In a global community where language and customs differ, the service of art is imperative. Artists tell a personal story of human experience. They give awareness to our senses, and bring us views of things we can see, feel, understand and love. They also show us things to which we respond with outrage, activism and solutions. At GMC, art students are immersed in the interdisciplinary ELA curriculum. This means they gain an understanding of the broader context in which they create their work—they learn how art can interpret and make sense of the ecological challenges facing today’s society.
