Coding is required to bill insurance companies and is used in the medical records departments of hospitals. Students will learn the different coding rules by effectively learning to use the three-volume ICD-9CM set. In CPT coding, students will learn how to code the doctor’s procedures/services as well as learn the new evaluation and management codes. The official Medical Fee Schedule codes are used in billing for worker’s compensation claims. Note: The latest HIPAA compliance will be discussed in class. $172 materials fee (for textbook and handouts) payable to the presenter in class.
