Students receive hands-on experience using industrial equipment in the department’s well equipped computer, strength, design, materials, manufacturing, quality control, electromechanical control systems, and robotics laboratories. The department is particularly proud of its new Institute for Research and Technology Transfer (IRTT) which contains the latest automated commercial CNC Turning Center, CNC Milling Center, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Vision Controlled Pick and Place Robot, Laser Cutting Machine, Thermal Spray (HVOF) Machine, Rapid Prototyping Machine and Fuel Cell Research. Advanced manufacturing computer programs such as: Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) are run on the latest PC’s. Up-to-date courses in Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Electronic Packaging Applications, Robotics, Electromechanical Control Systems and Tooling for Composites complement traditional courses such as Statics, Dynamics Strength of Materials, Material Science, Applied Fluid Mechanics and Applied Heat Transfer providing graduates with a well balanced backgr
