The UF Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences offers a graduate level Certificate in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership designed for professionals that would like to go from working for an organization to leading the organization. The nonprofit sector is increasing in scope and in number of organizations with more than 837,000 nonprofits in the United States, all of which need trained leaders to carry out their organization’s mission (The National Council of Nonprofit Associations). Nonprofits are an important part of the economy, operating in the areas of health care, education, social services, arts, recreation, business/professional associations, and religious organizations. They serve many societal needs and are important for the implementation of government programs and initiatives at the local, state, and federal level. In this 12-credit program, you will learn the following nonprofit functions: Strategic Planning, Governance & Leadership, Marketing & Public Relations, Fundraising & Volunteer Development, and Risk Management Ethics.
